An initial assessment is a decision point, not a diagnosis by message. It helps establish whether air renewal may be relevant, whether visiting the property is justified, whether another trade should look first, and whether the situation could develop into a larger ventilation project.
When an assessment may add value
- Condensation, persistently high humidity or stale air affects several rooms or returns despite normal window airing.
- A bathroom remains wet for hours, an extract fan runs without moving much air, or nobody knows where the duct terminates.
- An existing VMC, heat-recovery, ducted or extract system is present but its real airflow or operating condition is unclear.
- A flat, house or commercial property is being renovated and whole-property supply and extract is under consideration.
- The evidence could point to ventilation, the building envelope, water ingress, a shared duct or another trade, and the order of investigation matters.

The first review covers location, property type, affected rooms, timing, project stage and any existing equipment. General photographs and a short video can clarify the layout, but they do not establish a remote diagnosis.

The context is used to decide whether ventilation checks are proportionate, whether essential information is missing, or whether a building manager, plumber, envelope specialist or another professional should act first.

Observe the air path on site
Where a visit is useful, the supply, transfer and extract path can be inspected and indicative airflow checks can be taken to understand how the existing arrangement behaves.

The outcome may be operational advice, another inspection, preliminary system discussion or a larger project route. Regulated work remains subject to the appropriate authorised company and competent professionals.
